After the closure of the McClary foundry in London, Ontario, it's unclear where these pans were made, some say Guelph Ontario by Eatons themselves, others say Smart or Findlay. Wherever this pan was made, one thing is certain: it matches the quality of Eaton's pans, beautifully crafted, with no casting defects and a wonderfully smooth cooking surface.
A vintage and highly collectible cast-iron skillet from the Timothy Eaton Company Limited, better known as the Eaton's department store chain.
Although the pan bears the highly respected Eaton Company logo, most Eaton cast iron is the product of the James Smart Manufacturing Company, the McClary Manufacturing Company and other foundries.
It's nearly 100 years old, if not more, and it's in excellent condition!
This skillet is lighter than most other cast-iron skillets of the same size, reflecting greater skill in producing slightly finer cast iron. Another sign of high quality is its smooth, glassy interior, which contributes to its natural non-stick properties.
